"A quiet little farming community in southern Colorado"

Sanford is a small community spread out in southern Colorado, with 879 people that call Sanford home. The median income is $35,842 which is below the state average of $55,430. The median home price in Colorado is $237,800, while the median home price in Sanford is $89,086. The cost of living here is well below the state average, but there are also few amenities here. The nearest decent sized town is Alamosa which has a population of almost 9,000. For residents of Sanford who shop or travel to Alamosa for any other reason the drive takes about 25 minutes. The nearest large city is Pueblo, which is just about 100 miles away.

The town residents are a mix of mostly White and Hispanic having ancestors mostly from Germany and Mexico, respectively. There is a lot of farm land down here and you can purchase a good size lot for much less than many other areas of Colorado.

For those who would be interested in ranching or farming, this may be a great place to look. For those who enjoy more amenities or shopping, there are better options closer to larger towns. Overall it is a small community with a good neighborhood feel, although many homes are a bit remote.
Pros
  • low cost of living
  • land available
Cons
  • remote
  • few amenities
