"A military base at the foot of Cheyenne Mountain"

Fort Carson is an Army military base located just southwest of Colorado Springs at the base of Cheyenne Mountain. It was built in 1942 and has remained active to this day. This base is well known for it's location next to Cheyenne Mountain AFS, which contains NORAD and is a hollowed out mountain which now contains a labyrinth of paths and computer resources in case our country gets attacked. From this location missiles can be launched, data analyzed, and many other military functions, all while the personnel is guarded from any outside attacks. As the majority of the excavation of this mountain was granite, it seems a logical place to keep things safe and sound. It's location in roughly the middle of the country also helps.

For the most part, Fort Carson looks like a normal Army base. There are rows of military housing for families who are stationed here, a commissary, and many buildings for the soldiers to work and train in. Since many of the buildings look the same, it can be a rather drab environment with the exception of the mountains it butts up against. Although I've only been here a few times, it doesn't seem crowded although the base can hold well over 10,000 people.
