Least Favorite Neighborhood?

There's been some legitimate pushback recently on the "worst neighborhood" thread, given that the word "worst" is a relative term. Most of us take that to mean the most unsafe neighborhood, but some people have simply shared their least favorites.

In the spirit of curiosity and starting a discussion without being too negative, I am curious to hear what neighborhoods in SF people here avoid, at all costs, for no other reason than they do not like the place. Personally, I dislike 19th Avenue during rush hour, and the Bay Bridge almost all the time, because I despise traffic probably even more than the average person.

I'm curious to hear other peoples' thoughts. Let's try to keep it informative, rather than negative!

We can try to stay positive, but I think that if we call out the PC police to monitor every word we say that pretty soon we will have to just stop talking. I am conscious of the fact that when I make a value judgement I am doing so from the point of view of someone who is white, and college educated, and pretty much middle class and that some of the things I say are racist, classist and maybe even sexist. I would rather say them and get called out on them rather than guard my every word and linger in my ignorance though.

I think we should just try to say things civilly, and try not to offend, and most important try to have some empathy for those who we might not fully understand.

Okay, off my soap box now. Here's what I think about my least favorite neighborhood. You know, it all depends on how I feel. For example, I know that I am supposed to say that I hate the crowds during rush hour. (And I certainly don't like sitting in my car during rush hour traffic.) But I actually miss the crowds.

I miss getting on the BART at Montgomery when it is so packed that you have to stand and when people's backpacks are bumping up against you and you're mostly just invisible. You can just sit there and people watch. Make up little stories about people heading home--wonder what they are going home to and play detective by checking out what they are carrying. And eavesdropping, of course, one of my favorite passtimes--piecing together the other side of cellphone conversations.

It gives you a chance to imagine what other people's lives are like. Dead chickens or not.

I used to live that on the NYC subway all the time, and while I don't miss it per se, I do miss the people-watching aspect. I certainly came home with a story every day!

@Flowergirl, the above was not a suggestion that you shouldn't be candid, simply a caveat because I know I am opening a whole Pandora's box when I start a thread called "Least Favorite Neighborhood." Less a knock on anyone else, more self-preservation. Part of the value of forums is the voice that it gives people, and by no means should that be censored. I'll shut up now.
