Overall, Roosevelt Island's grammar school (PS I.S. 127) is surprisingly decent. Public Schools in New York, in general, really miss the bar. And, most people I know have their kids in either a Private or Charter. But, of all the public schools, I think the Roosevelt one is ok as opposed to terrible in the case of most of Manhattan's publics.
