"Loud, drug and alcohol fuelled party zone"

Absolutely loathe living in this neighborhood. There are good parks and rec but the BSU students/ renters just completely ruin the place, even though they seem like the minority in part of the area.

Just about every weekend loud, drunken, high, Ball State students walk through the streets and alleys-- shouting, singing, and tipping over garbage cans. They party from around six in the evening until 3 or 4 am everyweekend and sometimes during the week. The police can't/won't do anything about it. You can call them multiple times a night and nothing changes. The neighborhood association seems to do little either. Good luck getting a good night of sleep. Same goes for your children.

The rentals around here are trashy, and that spills over into other peoples' yards. The students leave beer cans and drug paraphernalia and litter all over. They leave their trash cans out in the street all week. The whole place is becoming a dump.

I really wish BSU took responsibility and did patrols in this area. I can see why people despise the university.
Pros
  • Affordability
  • Location - within a short walk/bike ride from downtown & the BSU campus
Cons
  • Some student rentals need upkeep

"Close to everything you need or want in Muncie!"

Riverside/Normal City is the ideal neighborhood to live in in Muncie. You are within walking distance to downtown, Ball State, the hospital and the Village. Within the neighborhood are several parks, the city's public pool, a dog park, the White River greenway bike trail and the White River. MITS runs through the neighborhood giving easy access by bus to shopping and dining amenities throughout the city. The neighborhood is easily traversed by foot and bike and is a friendly, affordable place to call home. There is a good mix of homeowners and student renters, with a strong neighborhood association that is working to bridge that gap.

  • Affordability
  • Safe & clean neighborhood
Cons
  • Some student rentals need upkeep
