Is Renton a good place for young singles to live if they work in Seattle?

Yes. My son lives in Renton and works in downtown Seattle. It's about a 20 minutes commute. There are also several buses from Rento to Seattle and vice versa. You can check bus schedules via King County transportation and learn more about Renton at http://http://rentonwa.gov
