Are the schools in the Poughkeepsie (city and town) generally safe?

Overall, yes. The schools are quite safe in Poughkeepsie. You hear the occasional story about something happening, but that's like any school. Drugs aren't too bad and outside of common stuff Poughkeepsie schools are super safe.
