In June 2012, U.S. Terminix gave the #1 spot of its annual Most Bedbug-Infested City to Philadelphia. However, in January 2013, Orkin released its rankings which didn't include Philadelphia on its top 50 cities with bed bug infestations.

A good way to figure out if a home, apartment, or hotel has an infestation issue is to go to the bed bug registry. There are also products that help with detection and prevention of a bed bug epidemic in your place of residence.

Some examples are: Diatomaceous Earth, Colgate Palmolive IPD.,and/or plastic/waterproof encasements for mattresses, box springs, pillows, and couches. There are also plenty of book that help understand, prevent and control bed bug problems.
