"Nice, but a little boring"
If you live on Paularino Avenue, you enjoy the great benefit of all Costa Mesa residents of being central to almost every freeway in Orange County. Some portions of Paularino get a bit too close to the freeway action, but, luckily, even those portions have the minimum amount of freeway noise.
On Paularino Avenue, there are mainly young adults living there (late 20s to early 30s) and a few young families. South Coast Plaza and some restaurants (various sushi places and Wahoo's) are within walking distance. For nightlife, you are limited to the Shark Club on Baker Street. It has been taken over by the Asian crowd, which is fine, if that is what you are into. They recently opened a trendy wine bar right next to Bloomingdales in South Coast Plaza. It is definitely fun for something different or a special occasion, but, it is super expensive.
The area does have some highly rated schools in the area, such as Paularino and Sonora Elementary and Costa Mesa High School. Orange County Community College has a good reputation, as well; it is just down the road.
Traffic in this area isn't too bad as most people do not realize it runs parallel to Baker, which sees most of the traffic during rush hour.
