"Southern Beach Neighborhood"

Ocean Beach is a mix of beach bums, literally, hippies and professionals who love the beach life. That said, this is a bustling little neighborhood where you can hit up the farmer's market every Wednesday to pick up fresh local produce. Any day of the week, Dog Beach fills up with friendly local canines out to splash in the low riding waves. From Dog Beach, you can view the jetty at South Mission and see sailboats breezing across the water.
On the weekends, Robb Athletic field fills up with local families coming out to enjoy a game of soccer, football or even catch a rugby game. The Athletic field also has it's own gym, basketball courts, tennis and handball courts and baseball fields, of course. Oh, and there's even a skate park there now!

Is it upscale? not really. In fact, I wouldn't even say it's totally set up for tourists the way that Mission Beach or PB is; but it's definitely a great place to visit. Even a walk down the pier at sunset is enough to relieve stress and put a smile on your face.
Pros

"Surf, Sand and Sunsets"

Where else can you ride a llama at the Farmer’s Market, walk the pier to watch an amazing sunset, view Christmas sand sculptures or just spend a day of surfing and soaking up the sun? San Diego’s Ocean Beach has it all and more. Just a few miles from Sea World and the famous San Diego Zoo, you are also within a short distance from the trolley that will take you all the way to Tijuana – or if you just want a “taste” of Mexico, you are less than three miles from Old Town, packed with authentic Mexican restaurants and shops. Downtown Ocean Beach features numerous antique stores, an amazing Farmer’s Market every Wednesday (with the world’s best mini-donuts!), and a yearly Christmas parade. And, of course, the weather is the best in the world!
