"Block-by-Block"

The jury's still out on this one. When I initially saw Oakland Road, I was a little disgusted - a sheer traffic calamity and close proximity to a full-on junkyard turned me off. However, like everything else seemingly is in San Jose, this street is very block-by-block. The area by the 101 junction is chaos. Venture a little further north and you get some cheap, hearty mom-and-pop restaurants. Travel further still and you hit the golf course, the Silicon Valley School of Nursing, and a shopping center, before finding yourself in Suburbia central.

In addition to the diversity (which could be a good or a bad thing), Oakland Road is one of the major light rail stops, which is convenient for many of the residents who wish to avoid the traffic.
Pros
  • Good public transportation
  • Some very nice areas
  • Good food
Cons
  • High traffic
  • Some sketchy ares

"Best place to catch lunch"

P W Market has a good deli. A great place to get your lunch if you are in the area and all their produce and meat is fresh. Pizza California, not to be confused with California pizza kitten, is another good lunch spot. You can get a salad and a slice. There is plenty of room if you want to eat in a nice place rather than take out.

I’ve heard from many that the gold course is great.

Still the best part about the area is the food. Chez Sovan has great food. If you love curry then you will love this food.
