Yes and no. On the one hand Norwood Park is very safe and clean. You could certainly have a nice quiet life here. On the other hand the schools aren't supposed to be great and there's very little to do in Norwood Park. If you expect to have even a little bit of fun going out to dinner or having drinks while a babysitter watches the kids you can probably forget it.

Norwood Park is a very family oriented neighborhood. If you are married with kids then this is a great area for you. The neighborhood is very safe and everyone is friendly to each other.

There are great schools too. If you are Catholic both St Tarcissus and St Thecla have grade schools. If you prefer public schools both Hitch and Onahan have really good ratings.

There are lots of fun outdoor activities for families too. The Forest Preserve has bike trails and an amazing water park. There are smaller area parks too that all offer sports/activities as well as some indoor gyms. The public library is great too.

Another benefit is that a lot of Chicago's police and firefighters reside in Norwood Park - which just adds to the safety of the area. Everyone really looks out for each other. It is really a great place for families with kids.
