Morningside Heights, New York City - What are the schools like?

As far as universities: Columbia is right there which is an outstanding school. As far as schools for kids, there are a lot of great private and charter schools uptown, but I wouldn't recommend sending your kid to Public school in New York. I don't know anyone with kids that does. They're really bad.
