"Don't forget about the shopping on Monroe Ave!"
Monroe Ave is one of the few places in Rochesrer that has some great shopping and small businesses. It's truly an urban feel, you can walk down the street and go to poster stores, an independent grocery store, an asian grocery market, or a clothing boutique. There's also the Bug Jar which has a lot of great musical shows. Some areas are a little unsafe at night, so be careful.

"Convenience for all on one street"
I lived in Rochester recently and lived off of Monroe Avenue for about 4 years. It is one of the direct roads into the heart of downtown, then stretches out south of the city. Ive always thought that the street has a lot of vibe to it, it has a diverse community and there are excellent restaurants, including the mediterranean restaurant "Aladdin", one of the better dining locations in Rochester. The road is relatively safe, and night life is located close to Monroe along Alexander Street.

"Great for Singles and New Couples"
Monroe Avenue is an extremely diverse street. Lower Monroe can be a bit sketchy at times, if I had lived further down I probably would have stayed in at night. Progressing into upper Monroe, it becomes a beautiful, gentrified neighborhood full of bars and great little eateries. Even further up Monroe there are several large shopping centers, with grocery stores, book stores, craft stores, and more in one place. I loved living on Monroe, but now that I have a small child I probably wouldn't want to live there.
