Two great hiking trails immediately come to mind (no bikes allowed on these trails!)... The Winchell Trail along the Mississippi River south of Franklin Avenue (major access point at 44th) is believed to be an old Native American Indian trail, some stone walls, stairways, bridges were built in the 1930s as part of the WPA... and Pike Island, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers in Ft. Snelling State Park.
