"A quiet residential place to live"
Mason Street runs from Fisherman's Wharf to Union Square and up until Union Square, it's mostly residential. One of the two running cable car lines runs along Mason Street through Union Square. If you want to get a good feel of the city, riding the cable car from Fisherman's Wharf to Union Square is quite a treat for $5.
If the cable cars intrigue you might want to stop at the Cable Car Museum at 1201 Mason Street (the cable car stops there). It's free and is nestled in the Nob Hill section of town. It is full of historical and explanatory exhibits on the San Francisco cable car system and is actually considered a "working museum" since all of the cables for the cars run through there.
Once you get to Union Square via Mason Street there is tons of shopping and places to eat.

"Taste of the South in the North"
Mason Street is packed with activity day in and day out. With bars and restaurants on every corner, its tough to find the gems. Biscuits & Blues at Union Square, however, rarely fails to disappoint. The food they serve is fried and fatty, just the way they like it in the South. You can catch live music performances almost any night of the week, with a fun night of dinner and dancing followed by drinks at the the bar. Be ready to pay for it though, this Southern Belle ain't cheap!!

"Mason Street has plenty of action!"
If you are looking for some action and fun then Mason Street in San Francisco, CA is the place to be! There is a great club called Ruby Skye that has always been a great club to go to when over here. The downfall I have noticed are prostitutes and homeless people. It is a very noisy street and would not recommend living at the nearby studio apartments.

"Just like the Movies"
Wlaking down Mason streeet is just like being insied of a hollywood movie. The street has everything you would think a local San Francisco street should, complete with rolling hills, trolly cars and tracks, the mulit colored stacked right next to one another apartmetns and condos that look like they could cost a small fortune to rent or buy. It has the trendy people strolling along at a lieserly pace and the great resturants and coffe shopps for all the hip artsy people to hang out. Great place to go to get the urban feel of being in San Francisco.

"A beautiful street in downtown. "
Mason St. is a busy street located near San Francisco’s busy downtown. It runs from the embarcadero to Market street in downtown. It is parallel to to the very popular Powell Street. It is a street that is kind of always the same. It is usually not extremely busy but not completely quiet. It runs right by the Chinatown Community Center and the Cable car museum, which is a big tourist attraction. It also is close to many of the countless store in downtown. Overall it is a pretty safe street. I would recommend this street to people of all kinds.

"A mix of all of the city"
I stayed on Mason St. near Market more than a few times at a hostel when visiting. This street is the closest thing to home I have at San Francisco, and I think it is a mix of lots of things San Francisco has to offer. Between both the better and worse parts of the city, the street shows off an idea of what the city has to offer.
