"A Day Out On One Street"

Market St. is in the heart of center city Philadelphia. It has everything from the Hard Rock Cafe to the Gallery, a mall inside a train station. It starts at City Hall, right around the corner from the historical district. If you are looking for something more scholarly, Drexel University is also close and always has events.

"A good starting spot for history buffs"

This is the history buff's answer to the art student's Benjamin Franklin Parkway. If you're here to explore the role Philadelphia played in the Revolutionary War, this is your best place to start. You can see all sorts of historical landmarks, from the place where Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence, to the house where both George Washington and John Adams lived while they were in town. There are a number of metro/SEPTA stops near by, making it pretty easy to access.

"Starting Point for exploring Historic Philadelphia"

Market street is a good place to start your tour of historic Philly before heading to the main area of Chestnut street. The Independence Visitor centre can help you arrange your activities and help you get the most out of your time in the city. However, Market street has its own charms - the more out of the way Franklin Court celebrates the lifetime and achievements of the great statesman and scientist Benjamin Franklin and for the true history buffs, declaration house is where Thomas Jefferson drafted the declaration of independence.

"Market Street a Street with a Split Personality."

Market Street has been a signifigant thoroughfare for entire history of the City of Philadelphia. I always visit the Independence Vistor Center to find out what is going on in the historic area of Philadelphia before I hit the street. There is information on hours, guided tours and walking tours. The area of Market between Front and Ninth St. is a lively, colorful street.
