"Rural Community Close To Downtown Portland"

Located along Portland’s western border, Maplewood is a popular residential area for those that like to be surrounded by winding roads and rolling hills. You won’t find any businesses, restaurants or shops for the most part in this community, as it is strictly residential, however, everything you need is located nearby including the popular Multnomah Village for shopping.

Homes vary in styles and include older homes as well as more contemporary. Most homes sit on large lots that give this area a very rural, country like feel. It’s hard to believe that you are not far from downtown Portland that makes this a popular area for those that like to work in the city, but desire the peacefulness of the country at night.

There are many parks in Maplewood, including April Park, which has been described as a “hidden gem.” There are lots of nature trails, yet plenty sports fields and play structures which make this an ideal location for families. Maplewood schools are rated very good, and special recognition has been given to the Maplewood Elementary School that received one of the top scores in all of Oregon.

"Safe Area with Pretty Views"

Maplewood is a SW Portland neighborhood near Multnomah. There are some lovely homes in this area. In addition to finding upscale suburban homes, you also see homes with more of a rural feel. In this area, you will also see a lot of families and seniors who seem fairly established. One great thing about the houses in this region is that you can find some truly stunning views.

While there isn't much to do right in Maplewood, it is an easy trip to downtown. Also Maplewood residents tend to frequent Multnomah Village. The village has dozens of interesting shops and galleries. It is a good place for antiquing. This community has been called "Portland's best kept secret!" There is also a lot of community spirit with interesting events for families taking place year-round.

Gabriel Park is right next to Maplewood on the East Side. On the West side, there is the Portland Golf Club. So there are definitely recreational activities to be found right in the Maplewood backyard. This is a great place for those who can afford it and want a safe convenient neighborhood that is also close to downtown.

"Very Quiet Neighborhood With Lots of Green Spaces"

Maplewood, along Portland's western edge, is known as a quiet residential neighborhood with a suburban or even rural feeling.

Residential streets are set along rolling hills, with lots of curves and dead ends giving this neighborhood a quiet and relaxed feeling. Within Maplewood itself, expect to see lots of suburban streets lined with homes, parks, schools, and not much else. Nearly rural, it feels worlds away from downtown Portland.

The only commercial spaces in Maplewood are along the outer edge. Instead, the community's main attractions are parks and the Maplewood Elementary School, which parents seem to love. April Hill park, a hidden gem, offers a playground, fields, and trails around Woods Creek. Several other small parks give Maplewood plenty of green spaces to be enjoyed by the public. Maplewood is also within easy driving distance of downtown Portland, though without much as far as public transportation, it can seem worlds away for those without a car.

This established neighborhood has a family-friendly feel. Residents tend to be established professionals with kids. They have their pick of housing styles, from historic to newer construction. Homes tend to be set back from the road on larger lots, giving neighbors plenty of space between each other. Choose your house wisely; some of the homes in the hills have picturesque views.
