What's on at the Javits Center

Every once in a while I hear about one of my professional friends going to some conference or trade fair or other at the Javits center, and out of curiosity I looked up what kind of events get held there. There are tons of conferences. Here's an updated listing:

I've been there for a couple of trade fairs over the years. Absolutely huge place, though I hated the trade fairs and needed a beer badly after the last one.

I keep hearing about the IBS going on there this weekend; not entirely sure what it entails. But, it sounds pretty boring to me. Almost like wannabe fashion week or something.

I went to the Javits Center for a job expo once about 4 years ago. Haven't been there since.

I'd wager most of the events are infernally boring. The performing arts conference that happens there is by far the most commercial and personality-less one in existence.

Have you guys seen Up in the Air? The place reminds me of the general atmosphere of the hotels/lounges in that film (down to the color palette)

@everyone went to the International Gift Fair once at the Javits Center. A friend was working at one of the stalls so went to keep her company.. interesting stuff at the fair though.

Oh I forgot to mention that a couple of years ago , I went to the New York Times Travel Show there for a work related assignment and years ago also went to the New York International Auto Show which is also usually held there in April every year.

@NeverSleeps not at all .. its a typical trade fair hall and I have been to bigger trade fair centers in Frankfurt so I wasn't bothered by the atmosphere or anything...
