The trials and tribulations of parking in the city

It is estimated that 60% of NYC residents dont own a car as they use the city's creaking but yet functional public transport system. The residents that do own a car either shell out exorbitant sums at parking garages or then they look for parking on the street. Street parking though free comes with its own hassles mainly in the form of alternate side parking rules when cars have to be moved to allow for street cleaning. Now the city council is thinking of easing these rules. Does this mean that car ownership in the city is set to rise?. I know my husband every year around bonus time expresses the desire to buy a Porsche but as the new year rolls around, that wish is long forgotten when he calculates the costs involved.Wonder if this now will be an attraction of sorts?
