It's that time of the year

The holiday season will soon be upon us and the fantastic holiday windows are going up all over the city. Barney's has a foodie theme this year which I totally relate to and love but I also love the Saks dancing snow flakes. Which store usually gets your vote?

The store i love the most at Christmas time is Macy. I love the way they decorate the windows and the objects they put on display. It really lightens the mood and puts you in the Christmas spirit.

There are some nice displays on Lexington I was noticing the other day. Yeah, it's started already.

I think the only time I ever find those huge department stores appealing is during the holiday season - I must be a sap for that Miracle on 34th Street stuff. I have to say, though, that I am not really loving the Barney's foodie holiday stuff... I guess I just don't get it. Give me dancing snowflakes over a model of a bloated-looking chef with knife-in-mouth any day.

@Uraniumfish: I haven't had a chance to get out since my surgery. But what I would like to know is what part of Lex did you see the nice displays. If it is close to my street, I may go and take a look.

BroadwayBK that Simon Doonan -the creative director of Barney's is quite a crazy guy and I bet he is taking a dig at all the uber chefs with these windows.

@hhusted Midtown, near Rockefeller Center and the park. It's really pretty around there just now.

@uptowngirl That's what it seems like, doesn't it? @Uraniumfish Do businesses have their Christmas displays up before Thanksgiving in Midtown? I wouldn't be surprised, everywhere I go I keep hearing holiday tunes...

@BroadwayBK the Rockefeller Chrsitmas tree lighting is going to be on Tuesday the 30th and that usually officially marks the beginning of the holiday season but I think retailers in an effort to push sales have hauled out the Christmas paraphernalia much earlier this year.

@BroadwayBK Yes, I've seen a lot of winter-snow-snowflake themed displays and many trees along the street are lit up, even now. So maybe not Christmas, but winter displays definitely.

@uptowngirl Yes, I already marked the Rockefeller tree date on my calendar. But I have seen a lot of Christmas lights going up near big Manhattan retailers, and I noticed a lot of window displays in full effect even before Thanksgiving.

Is it touristy to love that big tree? I sort of can't wait. But I can stand to live without the department stores at this time of year. I'll see what kind of stocking stuffers I can order online!

@NeverSleeps Just heard a report on Black Friday sales seems like most people chose to shop online rather than battle the crowds in the stores.

@uptowngirl I don't blame them!
