How much would the average Broker fee on a rental be in New York City?

Are broker fees based on the rental per month value of the apartment? How much would you expect to pay? Is it a once off?

Brokers charge 10% of a year's rent. So, if you're apartment is $2000 / month then a broker will charge you $2400.
