"Family neighborhood blend longtime owners and young professionals"

North Hermosa Sand beach living and mostly single family residential area. Beach cottages and large new homes attract buyers who want to be above the Strand for privacy close walk to everything. Generations of families own homes within blocks of each other. Our family since 1960 and 3 generations. Neighbors walk with kids to school, and greet again, walking dogs or out running and surfing. Summers and sunsets are amazing as well as fall and the pounding surf. Parking is protected by 1 hour only signs or resident stickers. Bottle Inn, Martha’s' and the Green store at 22nd street are landmark stops for meeting up with friends. It’s a short stroll to the Pier. Very few multifamily dwellings are along this stretch of Hermosa verses 17th on down and South of Pier where it is more densely populated. Outdoor life is valued by athletic, artistic and entrepreneur owners. Property values are strong and stable here. It’s like a vacation to come home to every night and stay without getting in your car all weekend. Everything you could want to do is right here.

  • Rooftop decks and West facing street View homes

"Lovely beach street"

Manhattan Avenue isn't as lovely as Manhattan Beach Blvd; but, there are still some great things about the street. And, it is pretty well rounded. That's the thing about Manhattan Beach: all of the streets are pretty well rounded. There aren't the long, winding residential streets like some other roads in MB. But, Manhattan Avenue definitely has some power beach property. It's only two blocks away from the water and the homes and apartments in the south bay are, generally, arranged so that everyone has at least some sort of view of the water. The properties are very beachy: tall, small and expensive. . . but gorgeous. And, there are some great restaurants lining the avenue.
Mama D's Italian is one of my fave spots in the area. You have to go kind of late (in MB, late means after 8) if you want to avoid a massive amount of children. But, the food is great and hearty, the place is pretty inexpensive and the energy is always good in this place. And, it's tiny which I love. Manhattan Beach Creamery is just down the street and ok, ok, it's not a restaurant but there are so few old fashioned ice cream joints around these days that it's worth mentioning. Plus, it pumps an ice cream smells out onto the street. And, you mix the ocean smell with the ice cream smell and try to tell me it doesn't make you feel like you're in a Beach Boys' movie!! Come to think of it, there are a lot of sweets places on this street. That's probably why I like it so much: the smell.
It's just a great street in a great community. It's great to walk around all of these streets any day of the week. And, Manhattan Beach Blvd is no exception. Parking is a nightmare on weekends, but that goes for any beach city.
