"A nice little Colorado town"

Lyons is a nice little Colorado town that is a lot like you'd imaging a small Colorado town to be like. There are some very cute homes here with nice yards and very friendly neighbors. There are a few little shops in town, one that specializes in Indian art which is really cool, and a couple of restaurants and a little grocers.

The area itself is pretty with lots of trees and parks. Some streets have a sidewalk on one side and a few of the houses have little picket fences. It's a pretty close drive to Boulder and Estes Park for larger shopping or dining.

The median household income here is well above the state average and comes in around $72,812, but the homes and land up here are expensive as well. A median sized family home goes for around $318,749 which is over the state average by almost $100,000. The residents here work in a large variety of industries, with no one industry standing out.

The schools here all get excellent ratings. There is a small elementary and a combined middle/high school. They rate high on state standardized tests as well as parental opinion.

Overall, I think Lyons would be a great place to live and raise a family. The people are friendly, the scenery is pretty, and the atmosphere laid back and welcoming.

"The little town of Lyons shouldn't be missed"

There is something really sweet about the town of Lyons. Just 20 minutes from Boulder and Longmont and about 20 more to Estes Park. Lyons is tucked up against red rocks (the Lyons Sandstone formation for example) that the University of Colorado in Boulder is largely made of.

There is Oscar Blues, a restaurant in the center of town where there is great food, live music several times a week and a video arcade. There is a food market and in the warmer months a great farmers market selection that is worth checking out on a Saturday afternoon. The people that inhabit Lyons are unique, there are a lot of musicians that have lived or live in Lyons. There is the July event called Rocky Grass, a bluegrass fiesta by the St. Vrain River that flows through town. Speaking of the river, don;t miss tubing in Lyons, it is better and safer than tubing in Boulder along the Boulder Creek. Lyons rocks;)

"Lyons, Colorado - Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park"

The quaint town of Lyons, Colorado (~2,000 population) is pleasantly located literally at the foot of the mountains at the confluence of the North St. Vrain and the South St. Vrain Rivers set beneath dramatic sandstone cliffs. Lyons is located ~12 miles north of Boulder and ~7 miles west of Longmont both easy commutes if needed. Downtown Lyons features numerous quaint shops, restaurants/local brewery, and community-spirit. The neighborhoods surrounding downtown feature a mix of older/quaint bungalows, some newer/larger construction homes on the hillsides, and even a few newer town homes. Abundant outdoor recreation can be obtained literally out-the-front door with whitewater kayaking on the St. Vrain River at the man-made rapids and slalom course, as well as miles of trails for running/walking and mountain biking in Hall Ranch & Heil Valley Open Space. Lyons is also home to Planet Bluegrass, and features a very talented local pool of musicians that play at numerous summer music festivals/events. Summer is definitely the busy season in downtown Lyons, as travelers heading to to Rocky Mountain National Park (~30 minutes drive) pass right through the heart of town.
