"Lowry, the Old and the New."

The Lowry area used to be an airforce base but closed in 1994. I remember when I was a kid taking the bus through the military base and not being allowed to get off. The areas where once you were surrounded by deteriorating military buildings such as housing and hangars, you now see large homes and buildings that have been converted to condos and townhomes. The area still maintains some of its former glory with the “Wings Over The Rockies” Museum. Even the B-52 still remains outside the Museum.

There’s a town center with a tavern and a few cool places, like the Beer Garden and several Resturuants. The area also has several large parks.
Pros
  • Quiet Neighborhood.
  • Parks and Recreation
Cons
  • High price of homes

"A small section of a former Air Force base"

The area around Lowry has changed a lot since the Air Force base closed down. For a while it was beginning to get run down and looked unkept, but that has changed. Just west of Lowry is a new housing development which is very nice and Lowry itself has been incorporated into the Community College of Aurora. Many of the science based classes take place here and the rooms are spacious with tons of parking.

6th Avenue is always busy but once you're inside of Lowry there is no traffic to speak of. There aren't any homes here but many all along the outskirts on all sides but the south.
