For folks looking to volunteer and lend support, please consider Colorado Horse Rescue. With the poor economy and hay prices so high, locally hundreds of horses are neglected and many are literally starving. Unbelievably, guadians have abandoned horses in fields without providing food, shelter or a future home. CHR is overwhelmed with requests to take horses needing a home. The horses who reside at CHR are very happy and, those who were neglected; are healing. It's a wonderful experience to be there lending a hand for these American Icons. Please contact Colorado Horse Rescue: http://www.chr.org

Habitat for Humanity is also involved in Longmont and has built homes for many folks. They also have a Restore in Longmont off of Ken Pratt and Sherman. So if you are looking for reasonably priced home improvement items or have any to donate, you have a great option right in Longmont. And it's an easy way to support Habitat for Humanity if you can't swing a hammer.
