"Populated, but Beachside"
Santa Cruz is a unique gem in Northern California, in that it is a desirable, well-populated beach town that still offers moderate, understated middle-class homes that happen to be oceanfront in a highly sought-after location. Logan Street is just far enough off of the beach that the real estate is a bit cheaper for these middle-class homes, but close enough to the eastern beaches (AWAY from the tourists) that the walk is a mere five-minutes and the surf is world-class.
The biggest down side to Logan Street is that it is located just off of Seabright, one of the most popular streets east of the river, which means two things - traffic is a given, and Logan Street, like many of the other surrounding streets, becomes a parking lot.
Although I've never looked at real estate prices, the homes seem relatively reasonable for what the street offers, give the proximity to the ocean and a couple of great Santa Cruz spots. It's worth the look if you are looking to relocate to this area!
