Forget about New York City. I recently took the train from the Locust Valley train station to JFK Airport (changing once in Jamaica) and was on the beach in Sarasota, Florida before 12 noon!

The commute to NYC on the Long Island Railroad from Locust Valley is approximately an hour and 10 minutes. If you are traveling by car, the commute is 45-50 minutes depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.

Be real. It's a good 1-1/4 hours door to door by train, yet a pretty comfortable ride by car (depending on the time of day).
