What's the overall atmosphere of Larkspur?

I can't decide if it feels like a little mountain town, or if it's more like a small suburb cut off from Denver. Is it an isolated community, or does it feel somewhat connected with the surrounding cities?

It is currently a population of 234 and is quite isolated. There are mostly large custom homes here for the affluent who want the feeling of mountain living but are still close enough to commute to Denver or Colorado Springs. The Renaissance Festival is located here every summer.
