"Pretty...Pretty Crowded"
This is a tough one, because the road offers the beautiful splendor of the coastal redwood forest. However, given this road's proximity to Redwood City, Menlo Park, Woodside and Saratoga, it is not your average peaceful drive. Many of the best and brightest, richest and wealthiest of Silicon Valley live here, which means that you will not only be dealing with an abundance of cars, but an abundance of NICE cars that you want to be careful not to hit. This is tough as it is, and even tougher when you are driving mountain switchbacks through canopy-covered redwoods.
Furthermore, be prepared to play dodgebike on Saturdays and Sundays, because that is when all of the weekend warriors come out to play. Given the views, the mild climate, and the sunshine, you can't really blame them, but it does make driving a bit more treacherous.
Owning a home here provides a nice escape from the valley - if you can afford it, and are willing to contend with the congested roller coaster every day. At least the drivers are fairly polite and pleasant.
