What is special about the Armour-Stiner House in Irvington?

The Armour-Stiner House (or Octagon House) is definitely a sight to behold as it is the only known home in the world constructed in the eight-sided and domed shape of an old Roman temple. It is also laden with incredible architectural embeliishments and is painted in whimsical hues of rose, blue, violet and red. It has had some interesting inhabitants, too, including some famed writers.
