"Planned Perfection"

Irvine is a master-planned city in the middle of Orange County. It was established by the Irvine Company in the 1960s and rates high on lists of the best cities in America. This is due to a low crime rate and good schools, including a campus of the University of California.

The residential areas in the city consist of a series of villages divided by 6-lane roads. The homes within each village share similar designs and homeowners are not allowed to make changes that would detract from this uniformity. This is enforced by a Homeowner’s Association within each village.

Personally, I like homes that reflect the individual style of the homeowner and I enjoy cities that have evolved on their own instead of being planned, but many people value the perfection of a planned community.

The population of Irvine is about 220,000 and according to census figures only a slight majority are white (61%). Most of the people I know who live in Irvine are highly-educated people from other countries who are realizing their version of the American dream in Irvine. They value the safety, good schools and rules that protect the uniform appearance of the city. Irvine is the perfect city for people seeking planned perfection,

"Good Schools, Good Houses, Good People"

CNNMoney.com states that Irvine is the fourth best place to reside within the United States. Amongst US cities with a population exceeding 100,000, FBI deems that Irvine has the lowest violent crime rates. It is also ranked as the seventh highest median income amongst cities with a population exceeding 65,000.

Along with safe neighborhoods and great housing, Irvine also has a great school system. Most of their schools are part of the Irvine Unified School District. Their high schools have consistently been on the Top 1300 Public High Schools in US list managed by Newsweek. They are also on the schools within the top 4 percent of the whole country. Some of their schools are also part of the Tustin Unified School District. Irvine also has many great institutions for further education such as the University of California, Irvine, and Irvine Valley College. They also have a satellite campus of the California State University, Fullerton and also have more universities at close proximity.

Irvine is also the hub for great companies that are in many fields such as gaming, IT and many others. Some of the major headquarters you can find within Irvine include Taco Bell, BAX Global, Broadcom and many more.

Irvine also has a wide range of community and neighborhood parks that offers vast open spaces and great recreational facilities for their residents and visitors. Some of their parks include the Bill Barber Park, Northwood Community Park and many more. These parks also offer great recreational classes and activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

Irvine also hosts the annual Irvine Global Village Festival that celebrates the cultural diversity amongst the residents of Irvine and the Orange County. The festival is donned with exhibits, food items and entertainment from many cultural groups.

In all Irvine is a great city to live in and raise a family. It is also a great city to enjoy a great day out with your family.

"Perfect if you're ready to settle down"

Irvine is a planned, by the book, bland community. Which is great, if cookie cutter homes and flawless lawns and parks are what you are in the market for. However, due to Irvine’s size and house after house and condo after condo, you might know everyone that lives in your immediate neighborhood, but, beyond that, there are just way too many people shoved in there. Basically, Irvine is for you if you want to be part of the norm and another member of the masses in suburbia.

For me, however, the only reason I go to Irvine is for awesome concerts at the giant, grass lawn Irvine Amphitheater (I heard a rumor that was being torn down?) and occasional visits to the Irvine Spectrum. The Spectrum really is great. They stay open until 11 most nights and have tons of stores and tasty restaurants, like The Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang’s. Add in Dave and Buster’s, an Edwards theater with an IMAX screen and the Improv and why would you need to go anywhere else? And, for random fun, there is a giant ferris wheel; a great place for a first date, because no matter what you decide to do, the Spectrum has it!
