Where do sophisticated and cool young families live in Houston?

I will be a transplant from NYC and S.F, with two children-6 and 9.
Want lots of kids on the block and community feel, with cool and sophisticated families with young children such as mine. Also, really good school district--
I know nothing is perfect, but any suggestions? Bellaire has lots if famies, but not the "feel" I want-

If you are looking to stay in the inner loop of Houston I'd suggest checking out the Museum District, Rice university area, the heights, or river oaks. The clients that I have had in those areas with younger children have chosen to put their kids in private schools. If you don't mind "the burbs", I would suggest memorial, spring branch, or Katy on the west side of town. Let me know of you would like any more information. Talk to you soon...V
