Are there many job opportunities available in the area? Reasonably priced rentals?

Thinking about possibly moving to the area but I've not had any experience in Hollywood at this point. I have close friends that have lived there for a couple of years and they seem to really enjoy it. I'm currently in NY but recently moved back east from Phoenix, which I loved but it doesn't have the same draw for family to come and visit as Florida's coast does.
