"Hillside Drive, San Diego"
To view a piece of San Diego history that is more on the strange side, take a drive up Hillside Drive, which wraps Mount Soledad. The view of the city is breathtaking, and the homes beautiful and immaculate. Once you reach the 7470 block, you will find the homes are much smaller! This is the San Diego urban legend of "munchkin homes" where it is said munchkins from the Wizard of Oz film now reside. The truth of the legend? The homes were actually built on a slope of a hill and therefore, when you look at them from the street, you can practically touch the roof and it appears to be built for someone of smaller stature. It is an amazement to see and even better to show your out-of-town guests!
