"Not quite the pride of the Southeast Side"
While most of the people in the area are polite and hard-workers, there seems to be an abundance of police constantly serving warrants for gang and drug activity. It's somewhat cheap living, but not the safest place. Don't worry though, there are plenty of VIA bus stops all over this neighborhood to quickly get you somewhere else! While Rocky's taco house is always packed (and frequented by the local police force for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), I find it too greasy and high-priced. The family owned Taqueria across the street is much better and the employees / owners are also more polite. La fiesta is close by, but you will be better off going to either H-E-B or Wal-Mart. Both are close by at the Brooks City Base. If you have children of any age there are plenty of schools close by for all of them to attend in the San Antonio Independent School District.
