Hegewisch isn't the worst neighborhood in Chicago, but it's way down south near Indiana, it's not the safest place, and the schools are substandard overall. It isn't the most dangerous neighborhood or anything, but Hegewisch has enough crime to give pause. I don't see it being worth much more than a visit or two.

Hegewisch is the most southeastern neighborhood in Chicago. It borders Indiana and feels like a small mid-western town. There is a small downtown area filled with shops, small restaurants and few buildings in disrepair. Everyone in this neighborhood seems to know everyone else. Ethnicity in this area is predominately Caucasian.
