"Lovely, Quiet Suburban Neighborhood with Excellent Schools."

Hayhurst is a lovely suburban neighborhood in SW Portland. Popular with families, this community boasts some of the best schools in Portland. Housing is still affordable and homes vary from classic to modern. Many homes sit on larger lots in tree filled neighborhoods. This is considered a very safe and approachable community.

There are many parks in the area or close by. Other popular attractions include the Alpenrose Dairy and the Wilcox Manor (though only open for viewing once per year, it’s a beautiful landmark). Nike Headquarters is not far, so many employees who live in Hayhurst have a quick commute, as do those that work in downtown Portland. Public transportation is not great, so a car is necessary if you live in Hayhurst. There are some nice restaurants and local shopping as well, however, nearby Beaverton is where most of the major stores are located.

  • Great school

"A Laid-Back and Safe Area with Convenience to Downtown"

Hayhurst is a SW Portland neighborhood south of Bridlemile. It offers some real convenience, as it is just a few blocks away from the Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, which can take you right to I-5. While there isn't much in the way of shopping and dining right in Hayhurst, it really is conveniently located both to downtown as well as to Beaverton. There are a variety of home styles and also apartments are quite common. Of course, you will need a car if you are to get around. Bicyclists are unlikely to find this area to be too accessible.

Right in the center of Hayhurst is Pendleton City Park. This park is not huge, at about 5 acres. One cool feature is a cool sculpture called Vincent, Waiting for Alice. (This has something to do with Alice in Wonderland.) You are also very close to Gabriel Park, which is much larger and has a baseball field and off-leash dog park.

It is interesting to note that there is a little Jewish community in Hayhurst. You can find some synagogues and housing for Jewish seniors.

"Quiet Residential Neighborhood With Great School And Many Parks"

Southwest Portland's Hayhurst neighborhood is a quiet residential district. This suburban neighborhood has some parts that seem downright rural, with plenty of old trees and open green spaces. It's certainly not city living, through it offers an easy commute to areas of Portland that offer a more urban feeling. If you work in Portland but don't want to live in the center of the city, Hayhurst may be right for you.

Hayhurst is home to Alpenrose Dairy, a historic dairy farm also offering a baseball park and Dairyville, a replica of an old-time frontier town. Visit Alpenrose for a fun day with the kids and to pick up organic milk in old-fashioned glass bottles. Pendleton Park, also in the neighborhood, features the Vermont Hills Community Garden. There are several other parks in this neighborhood too. Hayhurst School, the local elementary school, is located next to Pendleton Park. It is highly rated and known for strong academics and high test scores.

Because of the school and the wealth of parks and other community spaces, Hayhurst is popular among families. You're bound to see kids riding bikes and parents out and about with babies in strollers. Residents tend to live in Hayhurst for many decades. Those living in Hayhurst enjoy beautiful homes set on large suburban lots in established neighborhoods.
