"Decent street between a park and a thru street. "
A one block street which is completely residential with the exception of the school yard for PS 95 (actual address for school is Hillman Ave, one block over). Usually quiet block, with a supermarket across the street and 3 bus lines close by (Bx#1, Bx#2, Bx#10). Recently, the school has started a construction project which isn't 'scheduled' to end until summer 2010. This causes extra noise and creates a traffic headache on school days for parents and residents--especially since this is a one-way street. Overall though, it's not a bad block. VanCortlandt Park is at the north corner and you can hop on the Major Deegan Expressway in about 2 mins. There are two elementary schools within walking distance and Clinton HS is a short 10 minute walk up Sedwick Avenue. Neighbors are a friendly mixed group thanks to the Amalgamated Co-Op apartments on the north end of the street which are home to families with kids, seniors and everyone in between.
