"Location, location, location"

Gallaudet Drive is just far enough away from downtown, yet close enough to be conveniently accessible to everything. Fremont hub is less than 2 miles away. There, you have Elephant Bar, which provides good eats and drinks, a Target, a Trader Joe's, and other stores. 4.5 miles away is New Park Mall which has Sears, Macy's, and Tiffany's, plus tons of other shops. 5 miles away is an Asian mall with a supermarket, if that is your thing. Aside from the downtown-like places that are nearby, across the street is Central Park with Lake Elizabeth. It is nicely big with tons to do. There are tennis courts, a driving range for golfers, BBQ pits, playgrounds for the kids, a dog park for the furry kids, a lake for you to use your sail boat or to rent a paddle boat. I've see individuals fishing there as well. If sports is for you, the park has baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and you can set up a volleyball net. Gallaudet Drive is also 2 blocks away from a police station. Kinda comforting. All-in-all, Gallaudet Drive is very quiet with some noise not very far away if you need it.

"Gallaudet: Safety First!"

Gallaudet is in the very center of Fremont, right across from the Police Department; thus, there is little to no crime. The state School for the Deaf and Blind is on Gallaudet. All the traffic lights along this stretch have safety provisions for the blind. Gallaudet Drive runs between Stevenson and Mowry, two of Fremont's major thoroughfares. Also nearby are the animal shelter, a golf course, and BART (on Walnut, which also has a large shopping complex). A major hospital complex, Washington Hospital, is less than a mile away, five minutes maximum.

There are several apartment communities and a range of condos, thus making it ideal for singles and young couples. There is also some very nicely done low-income housing a block from Gallaudet Drive, right off Stevenson. Overall, this is an agreeable melting pot of various groups across the economic spectrum.
