What's it like living a few blocks away from the Waste Center in Fremont, Seattle?

I'm moving to Seattle from Austin, Texas and I'm looking at an apartment in Fremont (located around N 35th and Albion). I noticed that it's close to the Solid Waste Transfer Center/North Recycling and Disposal Station and was curious if the area smells a lot, or if there is anything else I should be concerned about? I love the charm of Fremont from what I've read, so I'm excited to live in the area, but I just want to be sure I know what I might getting into! Thanks in advance.

Having driven, ridden and walked in the neighborhood of the Transfer Station over the past decade I have never smelled anything malodorous about the area. There are plans to replace the station in the near future and I should think that might be more inconvenient than stray odors.

If it's within a few blocks to a mile, you will get to enjoy the stench of rotting waste, on a daily basis! I used to live about 8 blocks from one, and the smell was horrendous!
