"Secret Way to Avoid Downtown Orinda"

This is the main way that you can get into Orinda without going down to the Orinda exit. If you live up on El Toyonal this is the way people use when they are coming in from the city (or leaving for the city.) There are no houses here. It is just the infrastructure for the Caldecut tunnel and trees. If you exit you go straight up until you hit Grizzly Peak--take a right and then another right and you are into Orinda. If you want to go down into Berkeley keep going straight and when you cross Grizzly Peak Blvd. you are on Claremont heading down toward the hotel and Berkeley.
Pros
  • a secret shortcut
  • hidden away
  • very woodsy
Cons
  • thick fog at times
  • extreme grade
  • crazy drivers
