Is Excelsior in San Francisco walkable? Can I walk to everything or do I need a car?

Yes and no. There's a Safeway and Walgreens on Mission, and plenty of restaurants there, but the restaurants might not be to your taste. The 29, 54, 52 and 44 provide reasonably good transit, but other neighborhoods in San Francisco are better in this respect.

You can live here comfortably without a car, but could live more comfortably elsewhere in the city.
