You don't need a car because you have public transportation at your doorstep. Bart is 15 mins walk, buses 5 mins and car pool to the city. Located in an excellent urban chic neighborhood with the crowning jewel of Oakland, Lake Merritt in the center. The neighborhood is a hidden secret of Oakland and once discovered soooo hard to move away. Trader Joes, Wholefoods and nearby independent local stores makes it truly convenient. Grand Lake Theater is an absolute must and another icon of the area. Gondolas on the Lake and a 3 and 1/2 jogging path around the Lake make this place paradise found. I love this area!

I totally agree! There are lots of spots in Oakland like this that just don't get the credit they deserve.

Euclid avenue in Oakland California is a vibrant street that lets you know that it’s right by a college just from the way it looks. And, it just so happens, it’s right on the edge of the University of California Berkly Campus. Food and college life abounds, and most of everything you need is within walking distance.
