The area is pretty young, but there are a few decent places in the area. I'm not a huge fan of DePaul either, but if I'm in the area I head to the SmallBar on Fullerton.

Shoe's Pub is a lot of fun, with Karaoke on the weekends, and Lincoln Station is pretty good too. ChiGrl4 isn't wrong about the ages of most of the people, but just because it's young doesn't make it bad. It's a fun area.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the bars in the DePaul area. If you are over 22, you'll be the old person in the bar and probably not have a great time. There are a lot of "pubs" that are actually just bars that play generic music really loud, there's dancing, generic beer selections...you get the picture. It's not my cup of tea, but a TON of people go out in the area, so a lot of people would say the opposite. There are 2 blues clubs in the neighborhood - B.L.U.E.S. and Kingston Mines - that are better options. BUT, these places are very touristy and not much like an actual neighborhood blues club like you'll find on the South Side.
