"quiet but seems a little shady"

Cypress Avenue is a major street running through Bushwick. I know Bushwick is improving and is supposed to be a up and coming neighborhood in Brooklyn, but I looked at an apartment there and still didn't like the vibe of the area. It is quiet, but not in a pleasant, tree lined way, just in a deserted way. It was a run-down area and didn't seem especially safe. It is very inexpensive, which could be a plus.
