Hows the safety at Eastern Parkway and Franklin?

Might be moving to an apartment thats on Eastern at the corner. Me and my gf may have late nights coming home alone past 11pm.

I agree with Simon, my answer will be similar. Before deciding on Bedstuy- I really wanted to live on Eastern Parkway, right where you are looking. Yes, alot of Carribeans live in that area, but it is an amazing location and quite safe. You are blocks from the museum and Prospect Park, if you are a walker you can even walk downtown. Ive been to resturants in the area at night and there are people out walking dogs etc late at night. As he said dont INVITE trouble- put those things robbers target away namely electronics- NO IPHONE, NO IPAD, NO LAPTOP it won't kill you to not have music in your ears on the walk home. But I a bit a flashy dresser: I walk around in bowties, caridagans and pants legs rolled up in the summer and nobody has picked on me for that walking in that area. Just be smart, you will like your location.

I don't agree with ants. The neighborhood retains plenty of its original Carribean flavor but that doesn't mean it's sketchy. This section of Franklin and surrounding areas are improving all the time. Restaurants, bars, cafes, renovated and new housing. The train is right there at Franklin and Eastern Parkway (2 3 4 5 trains). Regardless of what time you get home there are going to be quite a few people around. At 11pm, lots. And quite a few of them will look just like you.
Walk like you know where you're going and take off your headphones. Put your ipad and iphone away. Don't invite trouble. I'd give the same advice if you were living in Park Slope or the Upper West Side.
