"The art district of Kansas City"
The Crossroads is basically the art district for KC. There are not many residential options in the area and the few that are available are studios, lofts and a few condos. These few options are also incredibly expensive. Given that very similar places to lives are only a few blocks away and quite a bit cheaper, I would say that your money is best spent elsewhere. But, if you like to try to impress people with where you live, the Crossroads will do it. The nightlife, shopping and eating are all pretty much top notch. However, the real treat is that the Crossroads hosts "First Fridays", KC's infamous monthly art crawl held, conveniently, on first Fridays of each month. Essentially, all of the Crossroads art galleries, art spaces and collectives open up to show their work. The upscale ones have gratis refreshments (including booze usually) and there are often street performers, small concerts and other things going on in addition. First Fridays are a lot of fun though you can sometimes cut the pretension with a knife. To be fair, most Crossroads residents find something else to do that one Friday out of the month as parking is a nightmare and the party sometimes lasts until pretty late. I can't imagine anyone with children living in the area but, if you do, be aware that you're in the KC school district and that really is not a good thing.
