Where are the street cafes, corner markets, independent coffee shops?

Looking for the kind of neighborhood where I can ditch my car and walk everywhere. Used to a more european style...out the door and everything is there...cafes bars markets with a funky trendy vibe...is there such a place in colorado springs away from a strip mall?

Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs could be an option - or you'll just move downtown Colorado Springs. If you prefer a newer subdivision, take a look at Gold Hill Mesa, which is pretty close to many little shops at least with the bike. There is a non-stripmall retail area planned for future neighborhood events and shopping.
