Best suburbs in Colorado Springs?

Hello, despite my profile stating I am a local, I most certainly am not lol. I live in Australia with my 3 children (17,14 and 3) with my American (Texan) husband. We have put it out there that sometime in the next 5 years we would possibly like to move back to the US and for whatever reason Colorado Springs seemed as good a place as any. What, are the best suburbs in live in Colorado springs??And the places best to avoid?? Of course we realise that all of the above depends on visa application approval and employment status, this is not something we will be doing over-night. I have a Bachelor of Education and would be hoping to find teaching work ( which is incredibly hard to come by here in Australia) and my husband is also a teacher. Both of us have been stuck in retail due to the difficult nature of find a teaching job, and not being able to follow the teaching work due to custody arrangements for my 2 eldest with my ex-husband. Our 2 eldest will be 18 and 22, so our main concern will be for our youngest who will then be 8. Thanks :)

LiddiaL - hard to say which ones are "best" and worst parts of town, depends of what you like. In terms of school, the districts Manitou Springs, D12, D20 and D38 have very good ratings. We have many desirable charter schools which are public but usually have a higher performance rate than other schools. Luckily, here in the Springs, you are not tied to a specific school district. You can CHOICE your child into a specific district.
In terms of safety, I would take a look at crimereports.org and see what comes up. But be aware, at first glance most areas look a bit scary until you dig a little deeper.
We live on the SW end of town and love it here. If you are thinking about work, you might be looking at the far north end with easy access to the interstate, to be able to take advantage of job offers closer to Denver.
